What is WBSAC?
The Women's British Shore Angling Championship is an annual, women's-only shore angling competition held on the British coast. Competitors fish a single championship day across a designated stretch of shoreline, judged on a published scoring format, with one national champion crowned at the close of play.
Our Mission
To give women's shore angling the national stage it deserves — a properly organised, properly officiated championship that is welcoming to newcomers and genuinely competitive at the top.
Why the Championship Exists
Women have fished British shorelines for generations, often without a dedicated competitive platform. WBSAC exists to change that: to create visibility, to build a network across clubs and regions, and to give every competitor a title worth chasing.
Who Can Enter?
Any woman aged 16 or over may enter, from complete beginners to seasoned match anglers. No club membership is required. Under-18 entrants must be accompanied by a responsible adult on the day.
The Championship Format
Competitors are drawn to pegs across the championship shoreline and fish to a fixed start and finish time. Fish are measured or weighed by officials to the published rules, points are awarded, and the highest scoring competitor is declared British Champion.
A Celebration of Women's Shore Angling
The championship day is competitive, but it is also a gathering — a coastline full of women who fish, sharing tactics, encouragement and the occasional gale. That spirit matters as much as the result.
